Five Years Later-Was Iraq War Worth It?

Rather ironic that two high priests of the Church of Bush chose to set foot in Iranian soil today as that nation marks five years of war, five years of American occupation.

We all support the troops, yet this weekend as America celebrates the five year anniversary of the Iraq War, the milestone is hardly mentioned in the press here in America, more attention paid to McCain touching foot in Iraq than we are seeing given to this somber anniversary. A PEW poll released earlier this week found that 40 percent of Americans were unsure, did not know how many American troops had died in the war…for those wondering, we will soon reach the 4,000 number.

Taking exception to McCain’s rosy predictions where Iraq is concerned, I point out the obvious that he does not want to discuss.

1. Iraq is in the throes of civil war, the nation suffering from great political and military strife and uncertainty.

2. Despite claims that the SURGE is working, violence is rampant in Iraq, with the death toll of Irag citizens conservatively estimated to be over 89,000.

3. Life for women in Iraq has gotten far worse since the American invasion, many women having no choice but to turn to prostitution to survive, risking death if they are caught.

4. Unemployment and poverty rates are escalating.

Contrary to the false words of George W. Bush, no weapons of Mass Destruction have been found, no ties found to exist between Saddam Hussein and Al-Quida. Senator McCain would have us believe we are winning; have us keep our troops in Iraq, if necessary for another 100 years. Setting aside politics, setting aside party platforms and doctrine, was the Invasion of Iraq worth it?

McCain Spending Our Tax Dollars Lands in Iraq

So, McCain has set foot in Iraq, is off looking presidential in Iraq compliments of our tax dollars. Serious want to know how he calls himself the Sheriff of Pork Barrel will slamming us with the tab for this trip. While we are on the subject, if you listen to McCain on the subject of Pork, he always says he never has asked for pork for his HOME STATE...OK, how come the news reporters never ask him about pork for other states?

McCain Lands in Iraq, Lieberman by His Side

Senator McCain arrived in Baghdad today with his lap dog, Senator Joseph Lieberman, on an extravagant road trip compliments of the US tax payers. He justifies the trip at our expense on the grounds he believes the Armed Services Committee needs a close up look at Iraq before Gen. David Petraeus returns to testify before Congress next month. Despite his staffs enthusiastic admission that this trip gives McCain a chance to look PRESIDENTIAL, McCain brushes aside charges that he is using American tax dollars to make a campaign trip.

Let’s say you support McCain, want to believe his trip to Bahgdad is all about Senate business. Here is the rub…the stop over in Iraq is only the first of a series of stops planned, the other stops conveniently arranged to visit some of the entourages FAVORITE spots in the world. The three senators will visit Jordan, make a stop over in Israel, then fly into Great Britain and finish their tax payer world junket by visiting France.

Meanwhile, McCain’s former drug addict wife is taking daughter Meghan and her girlfriends off on a Presidential Looking Trip of their own…no comment from the McCain staff on who is picking up the tab on that travel itenerary.

Bush Told Me Iraq War Was a Winner!

My friends, I will not abandon Iraq, will not bring our troops home without victory, and you have my word on that. Sure we have made some mistakes, but that is ancient history, and I will not discuss the past, we need to talk about the future, talk about the success waiting for us out there somewhere on the horizon just out of sight.

History will show us that George W. Bush was one of the best Presidents America has ever had, will show us he was on target in invading Iraq, in using false evidence to sell our nation on the concept of war. He knew there were no weapons of mass destruction, but that should not matter, as we are safer now than before we invaded Iraq, terrorist attacks are down around the world, and we have not been attacked on our own soil since September 11, 2001.

We must "Stay The Course" until "Mission Accomplished" is a goal realized, a reality attained. Electing me as your next President will assure our continued troop presense in Iraq for decades to come as that young Democracy takes the needed steps necessary to be our friend, and my friends, that is what is at state in this election. If you put a Democrat in the White House, they will bring our troops home, we will no longer be spending a billion dollars a day in Iraq, our fine young fighting troops will no longer be dying and maimed in some far off desert half a world away, and that reality would be wrong for America.
